10 Life Aha Moments And Their Incredible Insights
I have been blessed with many aha moments in my life. I look at aha moments as gifts from God – that He loves me enough to show me things in a clear way and if I accept them, my life will have positive results.
The ten aha moments I am going to share with you today not only resulted in positive changes in my life, but they have resulted in a very freeing spirit and a life with very minimal stress. I hope they will help you have the same feeling when you apply them to your life.
10 Life Aha Moments And Their Incredible Insights
1. You don’t have to please everyone
And let’s be real, you can’t.
Someone is always going to disagree with what you believe, what you say, what you do – so you might as well stop trying to please others and focus on what is best for you. I’m not talking about being defiant and argumentative – I’m talking about making decisions based on what you think other people are going to think.
I am from the south and this is a really big problem in that area of the country. I know people who do things simply because they don’t want someone to think bad about them. People are going to judge you – they are going to have opinions without having all of the facts.
You need to let that go. Do what works for you and if someone doesn’t agree, it is their problem. They made a judgement they had no right to make. You need to simply do what works for you, your life and what is going to bring you the life that God has called you to have. Nothing else matters.
2. Live your authentic life
This goes in conjunction with pleasing everyone.
We all have a different calling, different gifts and a different purpose. You must live the life that you are meant to live. When I went to college, I didn’t major in what I wanted – I majored in what my parents wanted. Therefore, I never had a real passion in any of my jobs … until I had this aha moment.
When I did, I found my passion and went after it 1000%. I have never been happier, and I now have the opportunity to use my gifts and serve people every day. My parents meant well – they wanted me to have a “steady” career that paid well. But I wasn’t happy.
I wasn’t living my authentic life. And this showed up in every area of my life – my relationships, my career, my spiritual life, my finances.
When I had this aha moment, however, I started figuring out what I wanted and what God called me for and my life changed forever. There is only one you. Find you and live your life – even if people don’t understand.
3. Live within my means
This seems obvious, but so many people don’t, and I was one of those people.
The thing I didn’t put together was that if I didn’t live within my means, I would never have any money to save. I thought because I made my monthly bills I was good.
Learning to live within my means and honestly, below my means, allowed me the money I needed to get out of $200,000 in debt and eventually reach financial freedom. Don’t just live paycheck to paycheck – live below your means so you can have what you need when you need it.
4. God is in control
If you are a Christian, odds are you know this, but do you really know it? God has control of our lives even when we don’t listen. He allows things to happen to get our attention and when it doesn’t, we have to deal with the consequences.
My aha moment was not just realizing that God was in control – I have known that principal my whole life. But accepting that God was in control, that He knew how to run my life better than I did and releasing that control to Him in all situations. Accepting that even if I didn’t get my way, it was God’s way and was the best way – even if I couldn’t see it right away.
5. Decisions have consequences
Every decision you make – big or small – has a consequence – good or bad. Realizing this helped me to think out the consequences before I made the decision. Slowing down and taking the time to really look at the good and bad of a decision will help you to make better decisions even if they aren’t always what you want.
I have had to say no to many things that my flesh wanted because I knew that going forward with that decision would bring me negative consequences. Look at the complete picture and know the results before making decisions. It will change your life.
6. Bible, not church
I have learned to live my life on what God’s word says. For me, I had to step away from the church (not God) in order to really get a good grasp on this. I’m not suggesting that everyone do this; however, study God’s word and know what it says.
Don’t just believe what a pastor or teacher is telling you. I have a weekly podcast for my ministry, Lovell Ministries, and even though I am a Bible teacher, I highly encourage everyone to study what we are talking about, consider what I am saying and look to God for the answers. Seek His wisdom – don’t just park yourself in a pew every week and think that’s enough.
7. Pay attention
So many times, we go off course simply because we aren’t paying attention. Whether it is your finances, your relationships, or your career – when you don’t pay attention to what is happening, you are missing vital intel and information that will help you make better decisions.
When we don’t pay attention, we lose control of the situation. Take the time to pay attention in every area and you will be the better for it.
8. Throw out your excuse bag
We all have an excuse bag – that bag we carry around as to why nothing is our fault. There is always a reason why it’s not us, it’s them. Well, I hate to tell you – it’s you.
It may not be you directly, but a decision you are making is driving your circumstances. It may simply be the decision to talk negatively about a situation. I stopped making excuses. I learned to own my part and release the rest to God to control.
I can control me, but I can’t control anyone else. So, I do my part and God handles the rest. Stop making excuses, be true to yourself and watch things change in a positive way.
9. Wealth is Biblical
You may wonder why I shared this one. I shared it because so many people want you to be ashamed if you have financial success.
Deuteronomy 8:18 says that “God gives us all the ability to obtain wealth.” If you live your life God’s way, give Him control and make godly decisions, you will prosper – in your career, your finances, your relationships and your health.
Make sure your heart is in the right place, obey God and watch where He will take you. You will be amazed.
10. Your past doesn’t define you
Based on my past, I should be in a homeless shelter, broke and ashamed. But I’m not. This is because my past decisions didn’t define my present.
I learned from my past, I cleaned up my past and now God takes my mess and makes it His message. He can do the same for you. I want to say it one more time – your past doesn’t define you – God does.
I hope you have received hope and encouragement from my aha moments. These are all life lessons that I learned that helped me to move forward and have an awesome, godly life everyday no matter what my circumstances are, and I hope the same for you!

7 Ways to Feel More Optimistic and Improve Your Mood
Whether it is a stressful job, relationship issue, or even politics, it’s hard to be optimistic about where life is in the moment.
But a Harvard study shows that feeling more optimistic isn’t simply a good idea – it can actually reduce the chances of dying from heart disease, cancer, and other ailments.
While there is NO magic formula or switch to flip to make things more positive. But the road to optimism is a lot easier than people think. The key is finding a few go-to exercises that when practiced continuously, lead to optimism now – and anytime – when you feel negative thoughts coming on.
5 Great Ways To Be Optimistic Starting Today
1) Gratitude.
We too often focus on what we don’t have and what could have been, versus every wonderful thought we can have at the moment. Spend a few minutes each morning being thankful for even the smallest things that add to your life.
2) Daily meditation.
There is a meditation technique that works for everyone. The key is to keep trying as many as you can until the right one clicks. Don’t get frustrated if you don’t see results right away, and don’t try flavors of the week. Embrace the journey that is meditation. You and you alone will know when its benefits are a part of your everyday life to be optimistic.
3) Have a mantra.
Silently repeat “love”, “peace” or another word or phrase for 20 minutes in the morning. Choose a word that is likely to psychologically prime you in the right direction to be optimistic for the day. Pause each time you think of the word, wait for its afterglow to fade, and then repeat it.
When your mind drifts, just bring your attention back and say the word again. Drifts happen because of a core rhythm in the brain, and they are nothing to get worried about. After a while, the brain will settle in.
4) Focus on your breath.
For some, using a mantra just doesn’t work. If you’re one of them, a good option is to simply follow your breath. Focus on either how the breath feels flowing in and out of your nostrils, or the rise and fall of your chest or belly while you breathe.
It may help initially to mentally note ‘in’ and ‘out’, but you can drop this after a while. They key is to try NOT to change the breath, just watch it as your body breathes in and out.
5) Post workout brain stretch.
One of the benefits of exercise is increased neuroplasticity. In other words, your brain is primed for its own workout after you finish your physical one. Schedule a little time to work out your brain, which could include something deep, or simply read to expand your world.
6) Find a body-based counterpoint to something that is stressful
Many Type-A people who are workaholics often live in their heads, which make body techniques like Vipassana work well. Try 10 days of a body technique as it could change your life.
7) Know how to use stress-reducing technology.
Using complimentary technology, especially wearables, is a great way for anyone to meditate almost anywhere. Tech also provides biometrics people can use to track their states of well-being and quickly reduce stress.
One of my favorite tools – and we use it in our Finders Course – is the HeartMath app. The hardware includes a small clip you attach to your earlobe and a wire that goes to your mobile phone. You select your mood, which can range from “excited” to “anxious.” You breathe with a colorful circle on your phone’s screen that expands and contracts. If you time your breathing with the circle, your heart rate will usually lower.
As you breathe better, you are more likely to reach a state of “high coherence”, and help you be optimistic during the day.
Lastly, groundbreaking research on enlightenment and non-duality is on your side. Conducted in my role as co-founder of the Transformative Technology Lab at Sofia University, this research found scientific feedback from participants showing these techniques significantly reduce stress, increase positive engagement with others, and prevent people from taking sick days from being overwhelmed with negativity!
How about you, do you have more tips on how to be optimistic?
We’d love to hear from you. Share them at the comments section below!

How to Change Your Beliefs About Money
Dealing with money is unavoidable in a commerce-driven world like ours. Money is one of the most powerful tools people interface with on a daily basis, whether they realize it or not.
The money you earn represents labor, provides purchasing power and facilitates large-scale movement and change. For such an essential tool, however, money all too often becomes a negative force in peoples’ lives.
Money is both powerful and divisive. And in a society increasingly caught up in consumerism, it’s not surprising that many people have bad relationships with money. Those who have lots of money may use it unwisely or find themselves unable to stop grasping for more, while those who have less may feel trapped, powerless or resentful of others.
Whether you have too much of it or too little, money can be a significant point of stress in your life. Negative beliefs about money — and your relationship to it — can influence poor spending and budgeting decisions and generally decrease your sense of contentment in your life.
In order to budget better, spend smarter and live happier, you need to change the negative attitudes you might have towards money.
If you’re interested in changing your relationship with your finances for the better, do some soul searching and take steps to remedy underlying issues.
To start out, here are some ways you can actively work to change your beliefs about money.
1) Identify Your Money Scripts
The attitudes about money formed through childhood experiences and parent stories and struggles continue to influence people into adulthood. These early-forming attitudes and behaviors are called money scripts, and they have a lot to do with how you handle money today.
Some money scripts are healthy. Others are not. For example, people who believe money is indicative of self-worth, who idealize money and material gain or who belittle money’s importance are all more likely to have lower financial outcomes than those who don’t hold those beliefs.
Isolating a problem is the best way to figure out how to fix it, so if you think your issues with money might come from a negative script, it’s a good idea to try to identify it for what it is.
Because money scripts are often formed in childhood, it’s possible to learn about the origins of your attitudes toward money by talking with your parents and relatives about their own attitudes. However, you can also discover your money script by consulting your memory to figure out where your beliefs come from.
Once you’ve identified a problem, you can work by yourself or with a financial psychologist to counteract negative thought patterns and habits.
2) Recognize Cultural Attitudes Toward Money
Like your family environment, your cultural environment can influence your financial attitudes as well. In the United States, people are encouraged to beat out their economic competition to become “the best.” Because wealth is often equated with success, this can leave people with modest bank accounts feeling unnecessarily down on their achievements. This isn’t the case around the world, however.
One writer found, for example, that the Swedish culture’s prioritization of humbleness and conformity made financial life easier, even though the living expenses were higher.
Money is a part of culture. Therefore, attitudes toward money vary around the world. Some beliefs are healthier than others, and they all have their advantages and disadvantages, but you can learn a lot about your relationship with money by comparing it to those in other countries.
When you gain a broader view of financial attitudes, you can begin to weed out the parts of your beliefs that aren’t benefiting you.
3) Remember that Money is Physical Object
Back before online banking, money was a tool that you could hold in your hand, something physical that communicated value. Today, however, the individual value of a dollar is often forgotten as we look more at the total sum of our wealth rather than each piece of the whole.
Recognize that money isn’t a universal given but rather a tool and system that was adopted for its convenience. You should treat money as a physical object instead of a symbolic idea, especially if you want to stop conflating your net worth with your self-worth.
If you need a reminder that money is a tool, you could start carrying bills again instead of relying on a debit or credit card. Some people also collect coins, which keeps the physical and even historical aspect of currency at the front of their minds.
By using physical tender for small purchases, you can better recognize the power of the money you do have while remaining conscious of how much money you’re spending.
4) Differentiate Wants From Needs
A lot of peoples’ dissatisfaction with their financial situation comes from the feeling that too many things are out of reach. However, most people who feel this way probably have enough to provide for their basic needs, so the stress and frustration their dissatisfaction causes them might be doing them more harm than good.
Happiness and income level are not directly related. In fact, happiness seems to plateau before annual income even reaches $100,000. This goes to show that money really can’t buy happiness. If you have enough to satisfy your needs, you have enough to be happy.
The trick, in this case, is differentiating wants from needs. Consumers are constantly bombarded with messages telling them they need this or that product to be happy, popular, successful, loved, etc. In order to foster a healthier relationship with money, you need to resist these messages and define your needs for yourself.
Be conscious of the reasons behind every purchase you make and avoid substituting material goods for a real solution to emotional problems.
5) Talk About Your Mistakes
A lot of people feel shame about their financial situations, especially if they aren’t as well-off as they might have hoped to be. Because of this shame, people often avoid talking about money at all costs to keep themselves from looking incompetent. This silence is unfortunate because it allows negative attitudes to fester and bad habits to carry on unchecked.
In her podcast Bad With Money, Gabby Dunn breaks the silence and talks to others not just about money but also about money problems. Her example is a good one to follow. Money shouldn’t be something to be ashamed of. Talking openly and honestly about money with your friends, loved ones or a professional can help you figure out how to improve your relationship with money.
If you’re brave, open up and talk about some of your money mistakes. If you just can’t bring yourself to do it, though, you can still learn a lot from other people by reading reputable books, listening to podcasts like Dunn’s and doing your own research. There are plenty of resources available.
By trying out some of these tips, and by figuring out what methods work best for you, it’s certainly possible to improve your relationship with money. Old beliefs don’t have to hold you down and influence how you budget and spend your money.
In fact, by understanding what you believe about money and working to counteract any negative attitudes that might be harming you, you can live a healthier, happier, less stressful life.

Empaths and narcissists make a ‘toxic’ partnership — here’s why they’re attracted to each other
What Successful People Do In the First 15 Minutes of Their Morning
Mornings. Whether you jump out of bed singing with the birds or shove your head back under the pillow, we all have to face them. But did you know that what you do in the first 15 minutes after you wake up has a massive effect on the rest of your day?
I’m not just talking about the video gone viral with Admiral McRaven’s “Make your bed”. I’ talking about EVERYTHING you do in the first 15-30 minutes upon waking.
Here are a few other habits of successful people, and how they spend the first 15 minutes of their day.
Morning habits of successful people
1. Immediately practice Gratitude
Before even getting out of bed Sit up, put your feet on the floor, and taking 20 seconds to thank God/the world/universe/greater good for waking you. It is not guaranteed, and having worked on the ambulance, I learned this first-hand. Ever since one specific call, which I will not go into detail, I have made it a practice to thank my maker for waking me.
This is something I’ve come to learn that many successful people do- some do it during their morning coffee/tea, while others practice it at other points in their morning rituals.
Recent studies have actually shown how complaining changes ones brain. But it isn’t just that complaining re-wires our brains… Researchers have found that emotions such as gratitude can help make us much more resilient to the daily ups and downs that life offers us. Helping us stay more upbeat, and positive that “THAT MO MATTER HO HARD IT IS, OR HOW HARD IT GETS…YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE IT”, as the great Les Brown said.
Or as Michael Hyatt puts it in his book ‘Your Best Year Ever’:
“Gratitude has the potential to amplify everything good in our lives.”
Start your day off with gratitude, and watch your life begin to change for the better!
2. Avoid checking their phone
I’m totally guilty of this some mornings, and I can feel the difference the rest of the day.
While there seems to be a split in the highly successful entrepreneur world, personally, I’ve found there seems to be a growing number of successful individuals who are making a point to stay away from their phone for at least the first 30-90 minutes of the day.
When I first started this habit, it was REALLY hard. I kept finding my Gmail & LinkedIn apps…but after a few weeks, I actually began to feel much more relieved, and relaxed, beginning my day by practicing gratitude, making coffee, and reading in bed for another 10-15 minutes.
I’ve found that other highly successful individuals either meditate for 30 minute in the morning, are making sure to get time in with their loved ones, or for themselves, before checking their phones and getting into work.
However, these tend to be individuals who either have teams of people working for them, or have set up systems, allowing them to not worry about what happened halfway across the world while they were sleeping.
Perhaps this is why another morning habit of successful people……
3. Checking their phone for relevant news, or email or things that happened overnight
To quote Jay-Z “Look, I know I contradicted myself, but I don’t need that now…”
There are some highly successful folks (Gary V and Elon Musk come to mind), who check their emails /phones first thing in the morning, and are totally good with it. The key take away from #2 and #3 here, are to purposefully make a decision of what works best for you in the mornings.
Try going phone-free for 15 minutes upon waking for 2 weeks, and see how the rest of your day plays out. This may be quite a bit harder than you think!
This doesn’t mean letting your alarm go off forever. You can (and probably should) shut your alarm off… Just fight the urge to jump right to facebook/email/CNN etc.
Try it. You may be surprised how much you like it…or how much you feel behind the rest of the day.
4. Write a list of their to-do’s for the day
Honestly, I totally scoffed AND laughed when my mentor told me to write a to-do list each day. Boy, she was the last one laughing!
Not only did my days get 10x more productive, but I found myself far more focused within each task itself.
Personally, I use Evernote and Trello to help me line up my to-do list’s.
Evernote is for my daily work & administrative tasks that aren’t necessarily in line with a project.
Trello is for each of my projects, whether it’s just me working on it, or it’s a collaboration with another professional or company.
Find what works for you, and stick to it.
You may just be able to open up 2 hours a day for you to CRUSH IT for one of these 10 things…
5. Roll out of bed into their walking shoes/exercise clothes
Having been in the fitness industry for over 15 years, I’ve worked with a number of super-successful individuals.
The funny thing is, as I looked back through my notes to write this article, I realized a trend: Every single one of them started their workout with me between 6-630am. I was the second person they would see each day (the first was their significant other), 4-6 days a week.
While this is not a hard rule, it is something that many successful people openly talk about. But what is so special about 5am or 6am workouts?
It allows you to start your day focused on yourself, getting something positive accomplished, and sets the tone of the day with energy and accomplishment.
6. Make their bed
Sounds silly, but making the bed is another way to set the tone for the day. It’s a stupidly simple task (unless there is someone else sleeping the bed, in which case, it can be an impossible task) that allows you to start your day by having accomplished something of significance right from the gate.
It also allows you to walk into a room that feels far more “homey” and nicer at the end of a day…and as we all know, when you have “one of those days” there is nothing quite like coming home to clean, made bed.
Do you have other morning habits of successful people to share?
While this is not an exhaustive list, these are the most common themes I’ve experienced myself, and have found with other highly successful individuals. But really, what it all comes down to, is PURPOSEFULLY designing each and every morning so that you focus your energies, and begin the day with a positive step, and positive outlook.
Perhaps you have a routine that you found works really well? Share it below in the comments!

60 best sympathy quotes and sayings
Our latest collection of sympathy quotes and sayings on Everyday Power Blog.
Sympathy refers to the feelings of pity or sorrow we have for those who have experienced misfortune. It is when you feel bad for another person who’s going through a difficult moment.
