3 Reasons You’re Afraid of Success and How to Get Over It

Being successful is a complex desire that we strive for from a very early age. For some, it will take years to achieve, and at great expense. For others, it seems to happen overnight with little effort at all.

What is it that separates those who have achieved success vs. those who have not? Why aren’t you more successful? Could it be that you are more afraid of success than you are of failure? And if so, how do you eliminate your fear and embrace success again and again?

Fear is the ONE thing that holds most people back from achieving success. Yet, it is also the one thing that pushes people forward.

Let’s look at some of the more provocative reasons why you may be afraid of success, while also shedding light on how you can overcome your fears and find success more quickly and consistently.

Afraid of Success? Don’t Worry: Haters Gonna Hate

Can we agree to be real as we get started? Honestly answer this question: When you find out about the success of one of your co-workers, friends, family members, or peers, do you:

  • Judge them?
  • Feel jealous?
  • Secretly wish it was you?

If you answered yes to any or all, you are not alone. Most people have, at one time or another, felt the same way, whether they are successful or not. It’s NOT coming from a harmful place in our hearts or minds; it’s coming from a place of desire.

Reasons You’re Afraid of Success

When we are not personally finding success and the people around us are, it can feel challenging. We start to let our imaginations get the best of us. We think that these successful people are luckier, more connected, or have something that we don’t. We start to unfairly judge them while feeling worse about ourselves than we really should.

Through my work at Inspirer, I am fortunate to know many successful people. I have found that my experience is similar to theirs; 99 percent of success stories came with good old-fashioned hard work, determination, and grit. Nothing was freely given; they worked hard for what they achieved.

Since you typically don’t know the whole story behind success, I challenge you to NOT judge the successful people around you. Not only is this unfair to them, it’s also unfair to you.

Think about this for a moment. If you judge someone on their success, do you think others will judge you when it’s your time? If you negatively judge others, are you not then susceptible to the fear of being negatively judged for your success? Those negative thoughts that creep into your mind are holding you back because you fear being judged.

Unfortunately, haters gonna hate.

Perhaps you’re afraid of success because you’ve been judging someone else’s achievement negatively.

It is easy to judge others and diminish their success by being a “hater.”

My advice is for you to STOP. Don’t be the reason why your own fear exists…turn this fear upside down and celebrate the success of others, no matter how big or small. Don’t let your personal negative judgment sneak its way in.

The next time you hear about someone else’s success, celebrate it. Look for the reasons why they earned or deserved it. You find then that instead of fearing “haters”, you will look forward to the “celebrators” of your own success.

Success Resets the Criteria by Which You Are Judged

I own a successful business with my fiancé. We have dozens of clients. We are growing steadily every month, and we are in a happy place.

Often times, my family or friends ask me questions about my success. They want to know what’s going on in my business and how is it growing as fast as it is. But not every month is perfect. I sometimes feel like I am judged negatively if we have setbacks or challenges along the way.

At first, this really got to me. I felt like I always needed to have some exciting news to share every time I sat down with family or friends. It started to become a fear and a worry. It stripped away my happiness and compounded my anxiety during the not-so-perfect months.

Reasons You’re Afraid of Success

I realized what had happened: my previous successes had reset the criteria by which I’d now be judged going forward – and it was placing a new fear on top of the fear of judgement: the fear of pressurized judgement.

I don’t like feeling pressure, especially in business. I find that good thing happen in their own time and it’s very hard to make them happen. When you feel pressured or rushed, it’s easy to overcook the chicken. But when you take your time to prepare and cook it low and slow, it comes out perfectly moist and delicious.

If you find yourself with these pressurized judgments because of past successes you have had, don’t let that entice you to overcook the chicken. Your fear of being judged will be more detrimental to your success. It will take away the joy that comes from those small and memorable moments in your career and life.

Rather than let that happen, celebrate YOUR small successes just as much as you would celebrate someone else’s. Enjoy all moments of success, especially in the beginning.

Fear of Failure

No one likes to fail. Failure is never something we want to welcome, strive for, or admit to. When you start to experience success, the pressure to continuously succeed becomes a burden. Then the fear of failure, even small ones, starts to become overwhelming and scary.

Unfortunately, the chance of failure is higher than the chance of victory. No wonder most folks are afraid of success. But now I will tell you the things you’ve probably heard before:

  • Failure can power you to your future successes.
  • You can learn much from your failures.
  • Failure is not as bad as it seems.

But what I really want you to remember is this:

You may fail, but you are NOT a failure. The failures are the ones who could have done what you attempted to do, but chose not to.

There is a BIG difference between failure and being a failure. It’s difficult to get over this fear, but certainly not impossible. Remember that you are not a failure as long as you try, and trying takes courage – the universal antidote to fear.

Reasons You’re Afraid of Success

Success tip: Write down your fears, as journaling is one of the best exercises you can do to help find achievement, while also understanding why you may be afraid of success. This will help you face your fears head-on, as well as move past them so you can focus on what’s important.

To wrap up, remember that celebrating success, whether it’s yours or not, is important. Doing this will bring you happiness rather than disappointment. Don’t be afraid to fail and don’t let failure stop you from trying. Trying is the ticket to success. Without a “try” you are insured to fail.

Lastly, enjoy the small successes. Embrace beginnings. Embrace all successes. Keep these aspects in mind and your fear will disappear!

And remember, DON’T overcook the chicken!

The Importance of Developing a Personal Mission Statement

It is common in all branches of the U.S. armed services for top-ranking officials to develop and declare their philosophy of leadership, also known as their personal mission statement.

But personal mission statements aren’t just for top-ranking officials; they are necessary for everyone who desires to become a better version of themselves.

Personal mission statements provide individuals and organizations with a virtual map to guide them in this chaotic world. Before we dive into discovering how to write your own personal mission statement, let’s first understand what it is.

What Is a Personal Mission Statement?

A mission statement is defined as: a written declaration of an organization’s core purpose and focus that normally remains unchanged over time.

Properly crafted mission statements (1) serve as filters to separate what is important from what is not, (2) clearly state which markets will be served and how, and (3) communicate a sense of intended direction to the entire organization.

It is also important to understand what a mission statement is NOT. A mission statement is different from a vision statement in that the former is the cause and the latter is the effect; a mission is something to be accomplished whereas a vision is something to be pursued for that accomplishment.

A personal mission statement, states the core values YOU live by, what you expect of your people, what they can expect of you, and how you will evaluate performance.

Now that we understand what a personal mission statement is and what it is not, let’s dive deeper into the benefits of developing one. After all, we want to understand why we are investing our most precious resource, time, into this endeavor.

What Are The Benefits Developing a Personal Mission Statement?

A well-defined personal mission statement provides your team with transparency in the form a written document that lays out your core leadership values and sets priorities for the organization. In short, your team knows what to expect from you and what you expect from them.

A personal mission statement also has the ability to speak for you when you are not physically present, a benefit that is becoming more and more attractive with the rise of remote employees commuting from home or reporting to a regional supervisor.

Your employees and team members should be able to turn to your personal mission statement for guidance as they face various decision points.

How Do You Develop a Personal Mission Statement?

There are three main steps to building your personal mission statement: define, disseminate and demonstrate.

STEP 1: Define

The first step in developing your personal mission statement is defining you core values, key traits and deep beliefs. Be sure to set aside time away from distractions and spend 20-30 minutes reflecting on and writing down your responses to these questions:

  • What are your core values?
  • What do you believe to be necessary to success?
  • What traits do you wish to call out in others?

Now for the hard part: self-editing. Your list of core values is probably extensive as these principles are rooted deep into our identity. However, it is important to remember that a good mission statement is concise and easy to remember.

Your team shouldn’t have to flip through pages upon pages, they should be able to look at a short paragraph that has been distilled down to the essence of your mission.

Once you have defined and refined your core values, translate these into leadership principles that you will model and that you want to call out in others. This will take a bit of work, creativity and innovation but the outcomes are certainly worth it!

  • For example, if one of your core values is trust you could translate it into the following leadership principle: “I will work to earn the trust and respect of those around me by empowering leverage their talents in order to do their jobs.”

STEP 2: Disseminate

Once you have your basic personal mission statement, it is time to disseminate and distribute it to those closest to you. This may be a bit frightening as you are sharing the core of who you are and where you want to go, but this step is crucial to having a successful personal mission statement.

Personal mission statements aren’t made to stay locked up in a safe, secure vault…they are meant to be living documents that help us communicate and interact with others!

  • Begin disseminating your personal mission statement to your “trusted agents”, those around you who will give you honest, constructive feedback.
  • Don’t just email your personal mission statement out and hope for the best, schedule in a time to have a conversation with your core team around your personal mission statement.
  • During this conversation, ask for their feedback and suggestions on how to improve it; after all, they should be the subject matter experts on your leadership style!

STEP 3: Demonstrate

After reflecting, writing and communicating, now it is time for the fun part: to actually demonstrate your personal mission statement! If it doesn’t match up with your daily actions, behaviors and directives, it is worthless.

Conversely, a personal mission statement that is congruent with who you are and how you do business is a powerful, and essential, leadership tool.

  • You should identify with, and know, your personal mission statement so well that you it oozes out of you and your actions.
  • Your personal mission statement should easily provide others with information on who you are and what you stand for.
  • Your personal mission statement should guide your daily decisions and choices.

Now that we have reviewed what a personal mission statement is, what the benefits of a personal mission statement are, and how to develop a personal mission statement it is time for you to commit to investing in your development as an individual and leader.

As Ed Ruggerio in “The Leader’s Compass” so eloquently said:

“Successful leaders know their Personal Leadership Philosophy (also known as a personal mission statement) and communicate it by living it passionately every day in all they say and do. They have taken the time to determine who they are, their values and priorities. They know their course and have set their internal compass, which gives them greater self-knowledge, greater self-confidence, and improved effectiveness as a leader.”

The Best Advice About Chasing Your Dreams I Ever Heard

Everyone has the ability to dream, but not everyone has the courage to live their dreams. When people aren’t living their dreams they often have limited belief systems.

They believe that their current circumstances and or surroundings are keeping them from achieving the things they want to do in life.

We all have unique sets of circumstances in our lives that we can use as excuses, but learning to find those workarounds in our life that give us the ability to succeed, can inspire us to start implementing changes in our lives that need to be made, to make our dreams come true. You are never too old, too poor, too young, or too sick to live your dreams. You might not get there the same way as others but if you start chasing your dreams now you eventually will get there.

Dreams are just dreams until you decide they are going to be something more. When you add passion to your dreams your life circumstances will not keep you from achieving them.

Dream chasing is not something everyone is cut out to do. Dream chasing is for those who dare to take a chance to believe, that their dream is something more, than a thought or possibility. Dream chasers know their dreams are worth chasing.

If you have been inspired to start chasing your dreams here are 5 things you should know about the journey:

1. Perfect Timing Is A Myth

There will always be an excuse for you to keep waiting for the perfect set of circumstances to appear in your life. There is never a perfect time to start chasing your dreams according to the founder of GetMotivation.com, Josh Hinds.  If you are going to be a dream chaser –start chasing your dreams now. Don’t put off living your dream until tomorrow; we are not guaranteed a tomorrow.

2. Actions Make Dreams Come True

This is where dreamers often get stuck, the taking action part. A dream might seem like something that you want to hold onto and take with you throughout every aspect of your life. In relativity, dreams are great to have, but living them is the game changer.

Dreaming is the formulation of a thought and living the dream is taking that thought and implementing it into actions that will produce the dream. If all the great dreamers in the world kept their dream in the formulation stage we might not have things such as computers, phones, or cars. Think of the roles that those dreams play in all of our lives.

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” -Harriet Tubman

3. Obstacles Will Appear

When you are chasing your dream be prepared to meet with obstacles. Every dream chaser meets them. The thing about obstacles is that you need to learn from them, find a solution, and continue on your path to your dream. Do not let your obstacles detour you from continuing on the path to your dreams.

If Mark Zuckerberg the creator of Facebook would have given up when he had his first major obstacle in 2006 who knows where Facebook would be today. He instead chose to meet his obstacles head on and he continued to the next phase of changing how we all communicate in the world today.

“There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.” – Paulo Coelho

The Best Advice About Chasing Your Dreams I Ever Heard 2

4. There Is No Fast and Easy

Sometimes people want to go so fast that they sabotage the speed of their dream. The greatest dreams are the ones that are the most challenging; there is no easy button to living them.

There is a transition phase that has to take place when you go from chasing to actually living the dream. When you honor your dream and quit moving fast… your mistakes are minimized and the successes are magnified.

5. It’s Your Dream

It’s your responsibility to make your dream happen, not only for your benefit but also for the world that is desperately waiting for the fruition of your dream to change their lives. No one will ever be as passionate about your dream as you. Most have dreams of their own.

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
– Eleanor Roosevelt

While there is no guarantee of success, or when you might arrive, you will never know what living your dream feels like unless you put your shoes on and get ready to start chasing them. If you don’t start a journey you can’t finish one. Start visualizing what the end of the finish line looks like and manifest the outcome!

How To Be More Confident When Talking To People

Walking into a room of people used to create anxiety for me. I would become so nervous, I would speak in monosyllables (or not at all) feeling tongue-tied, fearing I would say the wrong thing. I would even avoid eye contact, praying I could just listen to others and never have to become part of a conversation!

In my heart I knew this was wrong. I felt others would look at me as a bland, boring person with no thoughts of my own. I would fade into the background, invisible to those around me. I finally got to the point of questioning if I should even attend functions – after all, I was just going to shrink into the corner.

So what was the point?

Needless to say, it was clear this approach was NOT effective or serving me well.

It wasn’t until I did my executive coach training that I learned conversations could be approached differently. To be honest, up until this point, I don’t even think I had learned how to have a conversation. For me, this changed everything.

When I was doing my coach training, I learned about asking open questions (questions beginning with WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY or HOW) and began playing with them. I found that I could ask about anything if I put ‘what’ or ‘how’ in front of my thought. I learned that people really love to feel seen, heard, and understood. When asked a question, they enjoyed sharing their experiences, their knowledge, and ideas.

I learned that if I asked one open question and then another, I became more relaxed. This helped me engage in the conversation and at times, even contribute to it.

My curiosity with others in conversation was helping me to better understand them, and them me. I was able to be more confident. I even began to look forward to participating in conversations anywhere, anytime, about anything.

Curiosity gave me the confidence I needed to have conversations with anyone – and you can, too. Here’s how:

3 Tips To Be More Confident When Talking To People

1.) Be present in all conversations to ABSORB.

Be More Confident When Talking To People

I was so distracted and worried what others were thinking that I wasn’t able to be present and actively listen to what was being said. This made it hard for me to be an active participant or a confident conversationalist.

As soon as I was able to be present and actively listen to ABSORB what was being said, I found it SO much easier to be curious. This also made me be more confident, because being present meant I knew exactly what was being said. ABSORB is an acronym. See below:

A: Attention to others. If we aren’t giving the speaker our full attention, we aren’t fully present and will never be able to actively listen to what is being said.

B: Body language and tone of voice. It is important to notice the speaker’s body language and tone of voice, as well as your own. Where are you looking? What are your arms doing? Are your words congruent with your body language and tone of voice?

It is important to be aware of the message you are conveying to the speaker – active listening doesn’t just involve words.

S: Stop and focus. This means put your phone away, close your book or magazine, or walk away from your computer. This allows you to give the speaker your full attention!

O: Open to understanding, NOT judging. It is hard to be curious and learn about others if we judge them or think we know what is best for them. We all have our own unique thoughts, lens, and experiences. We can learn a lot from each other, if we are open to understanding rather than judging people.

As you enter conversations, remember to keep your focus on the speaker and stay curious as you learn about them. This is about them, NOT you.

R: Repeat through paraphrasing. This is a great way to ensure that you understand what the speaker is saying. It allows you to be on the same page. When we are not on the same page, a lot of assumptions are made, judgments are passed, and conversations become confusing – which leads to conflict.

Paraphrasing is also a great way to convey to the speaker: ‘I hear you, I see you, I understand you’ in this moment, rather than fixing or solving something for them that was unsolicited. You know what I am talking about. When someone comes to you and vents, you want to help by making everything better and tell them what to do. DON’T. Paraphrase instead.

B: Be calm among your gremlins. The gremlins are those pesky voices in one’s head. We all have them. They can be a ticker tape of to-do lists, judge others, and/or compete with our ability to actively listen.  By consciously being aware of them, you are able to turn down those voices and give the speaker your full attention to ABSORB what is being said.

Tip: Remembering to enter each conversation and ABSORB what the speaker is saying (rather than each and every component) will help you stay present and focused on the speaker to see, hear, and understand them. This alone will help you be more confident and create an impact with anyone you speak with.

2.) Choose to listen in a way that focuses on the speaker while staying open and non-judging.

Be More Confident When Talking To People

You may be thinking, “Choose how to listen? We either listen or we don’t, right?” Sort of.  While choosing NOT to listen is absolutely a choice, I believe there are other choices you always have when listening.  How we choose to listen determines how we process the information we are hearing.

So, we can choose to process the information through our own lens, thoughts, and experiences and judge/compare the speaker based on our own experiences. In your head, this choice sounds like “I think you …., I want you to.., I need you to…”

This choice of listening keeps your inner focus on self rather than on the other person. This choice doesn’t leave a lot of room for learning or curiosity. It is limiting, as we feel we know what is best based on our thoughts and experiences.

Next, we can choose to keep the focus on YOU. In this choice, we process the information and judge the speaker in the speaker’s own context. This sounds like “helping” or “fixing and solving”. We think we are helping and fixing and solving when we are really judging.

This sounds like “You should…, you need to…, you can’t..” This choice is also limiting as we think we are focusing on the speaker by helping them without learning anything about what is going on for them or what they want to do.

Another option is choosing to listen with understanding. In this choice, we choose to keep the focus on the speaker. We suspend all judgment and are completely open. This is NOT about us – this is about them. And the only thing to do is listen and be curious to learn from them. This choice sounds like “what are you going to do? How are you…? When can you…”

When we suspend our judgment and stay open and curious, opportunities and possibilities become available that otherwise wouldn’t. This is how we collaborate and innovate – connecting and learning from others. This is how we have better conversations: conversations in which we feel confident.

Finally, there are times when you have skin in the game and you have a vested interest in the outcome.  There is an opportunity to be curious to learn, while also meeting your needs in the outcome.

So this sounds like “We need to leave at 5pm. What do you need from me so we can leave on time?” OR “I have another meeting in an hour. How can we structure this meeting so we get what is needed done before I have to leave?”

How you choose to listen will directly influence the quality of your conversation, and its outcome. It is important to note that there is a time and place for every choice of listening. I found that choosing to focus on others and understanding people helped me be more confident. What also gave me confidence was understanding that I ALWAYS had a choice.

3.) Ask open curious questions to better understand the perspectives of others.

Be More Confident When Talking To People

The fastest and easiest way to be more confident and hold a better conversation is to shift the focus from one’s self to another person. This can be done by asking open questions, questions that begin with who, what, where, when, and how.

We can sometimes hold judgment, especially when emotion is involved, so be very cautious. An interesting finding is that not many people have a lot of practice asking open questions, so they often feel awkward asking them. However, with practice, they become second nature.

If you find yourself struggling with an open question, just put a “what” or “how” in front of your thought. If you get super stuck, “tell me more” is also a great way to keep the conversation open, curious and confident.

~

With the advances in technology, high quality, confident conversations are becoming harder to have.  We all have less practice, less time, less focus, less confidence. The cool part is, curiosity gives us more of everything. It fills us up. It is how we learn, connect, engage, discover, inspire and interestingly enough, it also makes us happy.

When we are curious about others, we feel good. This feeling helps us stay relaxed in conversations with others. Neuroscience research supports this. When we are curious and ask questions, there is a mind/ heart connection. Dopamine and oxytocin are released; brain chemicals that make us feel good.

This means that, with curious conversations, we feel more confident and connected to others – even in conflict. It doesn’t get any better than that.

Like Sisyphus, in Greek mythology, it’s as if your daily routine consists of pushing an immense stone up a hill, only to watch it roll back down again, over and over again.

Wash, rinse, and repeat, this is your life.

You are missing your zest.

Wondering what happened to your mojo.

Feeling a little less than shiny.  How did this happen?  You had big dreams.

You had a plan.  It was all going so well until it wasn’t.

You’re fed up; it’s time to make a change!

But you’re stuck, so you sigh, put your shoulder to the rock and start pushing uphill again.

What can you do when you’re fed up?

Here’s the differentiator, Sisyphus didn’t question his destiny, he rolled the rock because he believed it was his fate.  It isn’t yours.

Ironically, we are pretty good at creating a life exactly like what we don’t want.

However, it is just as possible, to re-create that life.  To zero in on exactly what you want, give up the daily rock rolling and start anew with healthy striving.

With the simple act of questioning your daily routines, you begin to change your journey.

You open up possibilities.  You step back into being the author of your life, give up the daily drudgery and regain your zest and vitality.

Here is the beautiful part of this plan, when you are fed up with the path your life has taken the way out isn’t a dramatic exit, an abandonment of all that you’ve worked for along the way, or a courageous leap out of what feels like a safe routine.

In fact, the first step to charting a new course is to stop, rest and play.

As Michael Singer, author of The Untethered Soul, writes, “no solution can possibly exist while you’re lost in the energy of the problem.”

Change your energy by disrupting your daily routines to remind yourself that you can.  For at least four days, give yourself permission to rest and play in micro-moments throughout the day.

Fill those moments with activities that feel restful to heart and mind, playful and creative.

These “distractions” will bump you out of the rut you’re in and creative possibilities for your future will start showing up.  Reclaim hope, optimism and future-mindedness.

On the fifth day, it’s time to chart your course. Put pen to paper (this part is important because writing organizes your thoughts and focuses your energy) and write down the following:

1. Feeling State Goals

  • Three adjectives that describe how you have been feeling lately.  Challenge yourself to distinguish between a thought and a feeling state.  “My boss doesn’t value me,” is a thought.  Feeling worthless may be the feeling that goes along with that thought.
  • Now, think forward one year and imagine you are looking back.  Use three adjectives to describe how you would like to be feeling, more often than not, in the coming year.

You’ve just described your feeling state goals, an absolutely critical, and often overlooked, step to creating the life you want.  Somewhere along the way, we got in the habit of teaching, encouraging and modeling the pursuit of achievement-related goals without regard to whether the successful accomplishment of those goals make us feel the way we want to feel.

This is the classic story of the Hollywood star catapulted to fame only to still find themselves questioning whether or not they belong on a stage or the big screen.

The pro athlete who consistently “wins” but feels lost off the field, court or course.  The successful executive who climbs the corporate ladder only to find themselves with a big bank account, an empty heart and a greater sense of vulnerability than ever before.

The successful ____(fill in the blank)____ who one day realizes that they are leading the life their parents wanted for them, but not the one they desire.

This is a miscalculation based on the belief that achieving a particular goal will automatically translate into the desired feeling state:  “when I achieve ________________, I will feel valued, safe, confident, loved, successful, etc.”

By flipping this process around, and beginning with the feeling states you desire, you effectively reverse engineer your way into positive achievements.

That is, achievements related to goals that are directly correlated to what you want, rather than what you think you should want (as a side note, if you take anything from this article put this reminder on a Post-it® “Don’t should on yourself” and stick it on your bathroom mirror).

Aligning your efforts with your desired feeling states will tap into a new energy source because you won’t be spending all of that energy on making yourself do things you don’t want to do.

2. What to Take With You

Next, make a list of what you know to be true about yourself, that you know with conviction, you want to continue.  Be as specific as you can, the clearer and more accurate the better.

Notice that your list can include things that seem contradictory to each other.  A golden rule to getting unstuck is moving from an “either/or” mindset to a “yes/and” mindset.

This list could sound something like this:

  • I love my dog.
  • I enjoy spending some time outside every day.
  • I love to fish and my favorite place to do that is the open sea.
  • I love to create a home and my favorite way to do that is to garden.
  • I love to cook when I am entertaining.
  • I like being with other people and I love my alone time.
  • I love spending time with my children and my work.
  • I need natural light to feel happy.

The list you’ve just created is a list of your passions – made up of your values and strengths. No matter what changes in your future you want these to stay the same.

3. What you want. Keep it simple.

Set your intentions by writing down what you know you want.  Keep it simple; write down what you know to be true today.  Don’t ask yourself to know these answers for all time.

Close your eyes, check in, and ask yourself “What do I know, today, that I want to be true for myself?”  Some might be no-brainers and others might feel aspirational.

If you have one that feels like “pie in the sky,” then ask yourself what a smaller, more realizable version of that idea could be.

Use these prompts to help you get clear: “In three years I want to…

  • be…,
  • do…,
  • create…,
  • experience….
  • have….. “

List as many things as you can that you know to be true, and then move on to the things you “wish” could be true.  These are your goals, your mile markers for your journey.

Feeling fed up is a message from your internal GPS that it is time to readjust your course.  The very thing you believe you don’t have time for is exactly what you need to get unstuck.

Pausing, resting, playing are all recalibrations of the amazing guidance system that you already have within you.  Tune in, give yourself permission to thaw old dreams and imagine up new ones.

Focus on what you do want vs. what you don’t want and discover that by clear intentions and small, daily steps in alignment with those intentions, what you dream of becomes your daily reality.
