5 things successful people always include in their morning routine
What are you like in the morning? Do you drag yourself out of bed and rely on coffee to get going? Do you amble from one task to the next with no clear sense of purpose? Or, like many successful people, do you have a morning routine that ensures you get a jump on the day?
If you ask any highly motivated and successful person about their mornings, I bet you’ll discover a fairly strict routine. Very few just wake up and see what they feel like doing. Of course, this makes a lot of sense.
Not only are our brains a lot fresher in the morning, but by getting up early and tending to a list of tasks, it frees us to get on with the rest of our day. No emails hanging over our heads, no gym to rush to after work.
Here are a few important foundations upon which to build that morning routine:
5 Things To Include In Your Morning Routine
1.) Get Moving
Richard Branson gets up every day before 6am and fits in a workout. This is a great idea.
You don’t have to kill yourself, either. Choose an exercise you enjoy doing: whether it’s getting lost in your thoughts on the treadmill at the gym, or taking a quick walk outdoors.
Exercise releases endorphins, adrenaline, serotonin, and dopamine that are feel-good chemicals. This will help you arrive at the office in an upbeat mood, rather than in a half-asleep state.
2.) Do The Worst Job First
No matter what your job is, there will be a task you don’t want to do as much as the others. Maybe it’s responding to emails, or dealing with staff requests. Whatever it is: do it early and get it out of the way.
Of course, if there’s something urgent that must be done, get that out of the way first. It will feel like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders. It’s certainly far better than putting off the task until the last moment.
3.) Eat Up
The benefits of a good breakfast cannot be overstated. Gone are the days when you can get by on a strong black coffee and little else.
If you don’t believe me, try it…Include a healthy breakfast in your morning routine and see how much more energy you have. It sounds cliché but it’s true: a healthy diet and a healthy mind go hand in hand.
4.) Activate Your Mind
The last thing you want is to head to work feeling sluggish. So it helps if you can find something that gets your brain cells firing. It could be a crossword puzzle or a book. Either way, it’s important to start the day with an active and engaged mind.
Set challenges for yourself, such as completing the puzzle in under 10 minutes each morning. Try and get closer to the goal each day.
5.) Take a Moment
Finally, it’s important to carve out some space in your morning routine to take stock. Some people like to meditate with the popular app, Headspace, which requires only 10 minutes of your time and is extremely effective.
You can also enjoy that time to yourself to set goals for the day, or spend some quality time with the family. There’s no right or wrong way to construct your morning routine. The only way you can go wrong is by not having one at all.
You can always tell those who don’t. Just look around the office first thing in the morning: there will be the rushed and frazzled employees, rushing from task to task.

7 Reasons Why People Can’t Land Their Dream Job
A dream job is like being in heaven. You wake up most days feeling excited, looking forward to using your talents to create something unique. You feel inspired – and it shows in your work. You’re not afraid to go the extra mile, because you love your work and you know you’ll reach the top someday.
But everything comes with a price. You need to pay your dues to get that dream job. If you have the right mindset and you work hard, nothing can stop you.
Still, plenty of folks out there can’t land their desired profession. Here are seven reasons why.
Why People Can’t Land Their Dream Job
1.) They love the comfort zone.
We all love our comfort zones to a certain degree. After all, when you’re already earning $60,000 from your job, why would you need change, right? You can afford drinks on the weekend, take a vacation every year, and have an enjoyable life.
Why chase your dream job, especially when success in that direction isn’t promised?
The problem is that little comfort in the short-run can bring huge discomfort in the long-run. A little comfort from your current job provides financial security. But it also steals your chance to become who you were meant to be.
If you run a car repair shop, but you’ve always wanted to be a musician, the security is not worth giving up on your dreams. It is not only a disservice to yourself, but also to the people you will inspire with your passion.
2.) They don’t know their dream job.
You won’t hit a target you can’t see. So it is important to know in which direction you’re going. Most people never take the time to decide what they want. All they have is a vague idea. But they never figure out the path it will take to get there.
As Tony Robbins says,
“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.”
You need to take that vague idea, work on it, and set measurable, specific goals for the short- and long-term. For example, if you want to become an astronomer, your short-term goal may be to find the right college program.
3.) They believe in overnight success.
There’s no such thing as overnight success. Michael Phelps worked every single day for five years before he became a legend – that’s more than 1,800 days of continuous work without missing a single day.
It took Kevin Hart 19 years of rejection to reach where he is today. He was told repeatedly that he’s not good enough. He is now worth hundreds of millions of dollars – but he worked hard for two decades to reach that point.
If you can’t commit to your dreams for the next five years, you don’t really want them. In this situation, it’s better to explore other things until you find something worth committing to.
4.) They can’t sell themselves.
If you want to get that dream job, you have to learn to sell yourself. It’s not about being slick or acting like a snake oil salesman. It’s about knowing your true worth, being authentic, and letting recruiters know that you can bring results.
You need to master the application process. You have to learn how to write a persuasive cover letter to make a strong first impression. You also need to know how to answer tough interview questions.
This ensures that you don’t sweat and flinch when the tension levels get high during the interview. The key here is to trust in your preparation.
5.) They don’t network.
You’d be surprised to know that 71 percent of recruiters hire new employees via referrals. But at the same time, only 7 percent of employees actually ask for a referral.
This is expected, because sitting behind a laptop and sending out job applications with a few clicks is easier, than reaching out to your friends and acquaintances for referrals.
It’s possible that your close friends don’t know anyone they can refer you to. But they may know someone who can. The best way to approach the person is to ask about their opinion of the company. If they love working there, ask them how you can get your resume in the right hands.
6.) They are afraid of failure.
Failure is tricky, but only until you understand it. It disrupts your flow by telling you that your hard work and efforts have gone to waste. But the truth is that your efforts can never go to waste – as long as you learn from them.
Each failure brings with it a lesson, an opportunity to grow and realize your full potential. If you want to get that dream job, you’ve got to stop thinking about the reasons you can’t do it. That’s fear speaking to you.
If you want to win over fear, act courageously. According to Brian Tracy, the law of reversibility says that if you act in a courageous manner, your brain will create the feeling of courage in your heart. You will feel strong inside. So even if you’re afraid, act courageously and your brain will affirm that you are no longer afraid.
The key here is to move toward your fears. When you run away, it just grows as your confidence shrinks. When you run towards fear, it shrinks and your confidence grows.
7.) They worry about money.
Many people never take a chance at their dream job because they think it won’t pay their bills. But this is not true. Whether you want to become a writer, dancer, a fire-fighter, or a professional athlete, you can always monetize your passion.
Still, choosing your passion is a double-edged sword. Some passions aren’t very lucrative. That’s where you need to check your priorities. If you have kids to raise and you need lucrative income, it may be best to keep your passion as a hobby.
Or perhaps you can have both by doing multiple jobs or running a side business. For example, a dancer can offer classes during the day and work as a freelance writer during the evening.
It will be hard, but it will be worth it. You may have to downsize a little and kill your desire to buy fancy possessions. But you will have freedom – something that no amount of money can buy.

How to Communicate with Anyone Using the Color Code
There is no denying that communication is tricky. In our lives, we are forced to communicate with teachers, students, co-workers, parents, kids, spouses, significant others, friends, and more.
As learn how best to be in touch with those who play different roles in our lives, we are also learning how to respond to different personalities. It’s no wonder people don’t always get along!
Today, I want to tell you about a tool I firmly believe can help you communicate better with everyone in your life. It’s a personality test called the Color Code. Test takers answer questions from the perspective of when they were a child. In return, they learn what their innate personality color is: Red, Yellow, Blue, or White.
Each personality color represents an innate Driving Core Motive (or motive in life), natural strengths and limitations, needs and wants. Understanding someone’s color is understanding who they are. This can help you as you try to communicate and build a relationship with them.
In order to help you achieve better communication, I’m going to give you a brief overview of each color.
Let’s get started!
How to Communicate with Anyone Using the Color Code
1.) Red
The Red Driving Core Motive is power. They are fantastic leaders: proactive and decisive. But they can also be insensitive and arrogant.
Reds are logical creatures. They need to be right and respected. They want to experience challenging adventures. As Reds love to lead, it’s typical to see them at the top of an organization or team. Your boss may be a Red!
Maybe you’re a Red, or maybe you’re very different from Reds. Either way, you should know how to communicate with them. When communicating with Reds, get to the point. They don’t want to hear you drone on and on.
Additionally, back up what you are telling them with facts. Reds are logical; they enjoy debating and they can be argumentative. You won’t get anywhere with them if you’re not using solid facts.
2.) White
Those with the White color code are logical people – but they are pretty opposite of Reds in many ways. The White personality Driving Core Motive is peace. Thus, they hate conflict.
Whites are kind, even-tempered, and inventive. They can also be silently stubborn and unmotivated. Whites need to be given their personal space; they need to be accepted and respected. They want to feel contented.
Do you have that friend that operates behind-the-scenes but is secretly pretty awesome? Maybe they’re a White! If you’re communicating with a White, it’s really important to be kind. Whites are good-natured people and don’t understand meanness.
Remember, they can’t stand arguments and confrontation. So approach them gently and kindly. Don’t rush communication with them either. Take it slowly and allow them to process.
3.) Yellow
Yellows are our fun-loving people. Yep, you guessed it: the Yellow Driving Core Motive is fun. Yellows are happy, carefree, and sociable. They also can be uncommitted and self-centered. Yellows behave emotionally, so they need to be noticed and praised.
Yellows want to achieve happiness and to be free. You know that fun, charismatic, popular kid in high school everyone genuinely loved? They were probably Yellow.
When communicating with Yellows, don’t be negative. Yellows are positive and optimistic. They don’t like negativity. It’s important to note that Yellows are more sensitive than they seem. So even if they playfully tease you, don’t take it too far and hurt their feelings. Additionally, shower them with compliments and praise.
4.) Blue
Those with a Blue color code behave emotionally. In fact, Blues are basically all emotion. They are compassionate, thoughtful, and caring. But they can also be overly sensitive, unforgiving, and moody. The Driving Core Motive of the Blue personality is intimacy.
They really care about building relationships! They need to be appreciated and understood. They want to have security. You know that friend who has got your back no matter what? That someone who is always there for you during good times and bad? That’s a Blue for you.
When communicating with Blues, be sensitive. As mentioned earlier, Blues can be overly sensitive: you don’t want to hurt their feelings. Remember, they need to be understood.
This means they need you to listen to them and to validate their feelings. Even if you don’t agree (you don’t have to lie), try to see things from their perspective. Agree where you can so they feel you are trying to understand where they are coming from.
Well, there you go! Hopefully, this advice will help you effectively communicate with any personality – at least a little better. If you’d like to learn more about the Color Code, please visit the Facebook page for more details.

3 small steps that could make the biggest impact on your life
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” – Lao Tzu
Every day that passes by, there is someone who is living a life that does not fuel their passion or purpose. Each moment feels like they are just existing or living life by accident. This could be due to fear of change, or limiting beliefs within them that say “you’re not worthy” or “I don’t deserve to be successful”.
It could be a number of things. Believe it or not, I used to be this person. I was stuck in a 9-5 job, in a 7-year relationship that was emotionally draining, and I was 75 lbs. overweight.
Then came that ONE day that would forever change my life. I remember it as if it were yesterday. I looked at myself in the mirror and saw what I had become. I didn’t recognize myself. I immediately burst into tears. This was NOT the life I wanted to live. I had neglected the most important person in my world: ME.
It was then that I had to make an important choice. I decided to take the first step towards creating the life I would often dream about. That very next day, I promised myself that I would do just one thing that made me feel more connected to the goals I wanted to accomplish.
Not two or three. Just one. It didn’t matter how small it was. The point was it was a small step in the RIGHT direction. This has led me to the level of success that I am at today.
Here are three small steps that will help you make that same important decision and transform your life.
3 Small Steps That Could Make a Big Impact In Your Life
1.) Have a heart to heart with yourself.
Take time to get away from people, places, or things, and just spend some time with yourself. In order to truly make any step towards the success you desire, you must have a great sense of self-awareness.
What is it that you want to accomplish and why? What truly makes you happy? What are you passionate about? How will accomplishing this change your life? How would it make you feel?
Be completely honest with yourself, your thoughts, and your intentions. Having these questions in front of you will keep you from going around in circles. They will give you more clarity and vision that should help you determine which small steps you need to take.
As a result, instead of being frustrated or reluctant to leave your comfort zone, you will be more confident now that you have a plan in place.
2.) Do ONE thing everyday that is connected to your goals.
Always remember that you don’t have to always make massive amounts of progress at one time. The important thing is that you are continuously moving in the right direction. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day. It took consistent daily, focused action. Over time, it became one of the most celebrated cities on the planet.
We live in a world that is bombarded with messages of instant gratification. But the truth is, any level of success is the result of a daily routine of the right things done for a certain period of time. That time can vary from days, weeks, months, or even years.
However, throughout the journey, you can see that you are moving closer and closer towards your ultimate goals. Do not underestimate the power of small steps. You will find yourself accomplishing things you never thought possible (and sooner than you anticipated).
3.) Do not measure your level of success by comparing yourself to others.
Success means something different for everyone. You must not become fixated on what media or entertainment portrays as successful. A fulfilling life is more than material possessions. Understand that you can only live the greatest life possible when you have defined what success is to you.
As you begin taking small steps and making progress, focus only on what your desired goals are. Don’t allow yourself to be distracted by what others are saying, doing, or what they believe success should look like. Too often, we get caught up in what society, current trends, and what the masses portray as “I’ve made it”.
This is your life. Only YOU can determine what accomplishment, achievement, and true success means to you. In fact, one of the reasons why you may be in the position you are in is because you designed your life based on the thoughts and opinions of others. This was my case years ago.
Conclusion
You deserve to be great. You have greatness within you. Sometimes, that can be clouded by limiting beliefs, adversity, or just the many circumstances in life. Think about everything that has happened in your life right up until the point you are reading this article.
I want you to know that everything that happened before NO LONGER MATTERS. What matters now is that today, you have the knowledge of who you are and where you want to go. The ability to change your life is within your grasp and your power.
Today, you have the chance to begin a journey that leads to some amazing and incredible years ahead. The best part about it is that you only need to take small steps in the right direction. So take action now – your dreams are waiting for you!

6 gym tips to stop feeling like a newbie
No matter what age or fitness background you are, heading to the gym can be an overwhelming – and even intimidating – task. While I’ve been coaching for nearly 15 years, and training for over 20, I can still vividly recall my first few months at the gym.
I was actually petrified of getting kicked out because I was young and didn’t know how to use much of the equipment. So I stuck to the assisted pull-up, the lat pull-down, the lateral shoulder raise, the leg extension, and the hamstring machines. I also did a few bicep and triceps exercises with the dumbbells. My thought was to lay-low and not attract any attention. I didn’t really know what I was doing!
Thankfully, a few of the gym staff members were incredibly friendly. They happily took me under their wing to teach me what they knew. This allowed me to not only feel more confident, but also to learn what was “good” and “bad” information when it came to strength training and lifting.
It’s been a long time since those first few months of feeling scared and intimidated. Every single one of us who uses the gym has been there. But with some attention and care, we each have the potential to drastically change our bodies, our lives, and our self-confidence.
Here are the top six gym tips that have helped most folks stop feeling like newbies in the gym. Hopefully, these will help you feel right at home there yourself!
Gym Tips To Stop Feeling Like a Newbie
1.) Ask for a trainer to show you how to use the equipment.
While this may seem pretty obvious, most of us are in fact, embarrassed to ask the floor staff for gym tips, or how to use a piece of equipment. We’re afraid of sticking out like a sore thumb. But this is exactly what we need in order to quickly feel more at home in the gym – and make sure we don’t get hurt.
While some gyms have their trainers sell personal training packages, any trainer should be more than happy to show you how to use a piece of equipment properly. Be sure to either take notes, or simply ask to take a video on your smartphone during the demonstration. Aim to learn at least one new machine every time you go to the gym.
If you’re hitting the gym three days a week, this means that over the course of two months, you’ll know how to set up nearly every machine in there. By this time, you’ll understand the basics of different movements and how to perform them safely, and properly!
Some gyms even offer “orientation packages” that allow you to have a staff member or trainer help you get the most out of your time there. This helps the gym to not only have a greater chance of landing a sale, but it also drastically decreases the risk of an accident due to improper use of equipment. It’s a win-win for everyone!
2.) Hire a trainer for 1-2 sessions to learn new exercises and to check your technique.
Don’t think of a personal trainer as someone you’ll be stuck with for 30+ sessions. Most actually look for opportunities to help newbies learn proper gym tips and techniques. Why? Because they know that it’s a fantastic chance to help someone get into fitness, discover things about themselves, and get stronger and fitter!
Hiring a personal trainer for a few sessions to help you set up a routine will not only help you stop feeling like a newbie, but also help you actually see faster results from your efforts.
One of the biggest reasons why those New Year’s Resolutions crowd tend to stop coming is because they try to take on too much, or too much of the wrong things. They get frustrated and stop showing up. Consistency is one of the biggest determiners for success – in any field – but especially in fitness!
So set yourself up for success AND have a friendly face to help keep you accountable by doing a few sessions with a personal trainer.
3.) Put together a plan.
If you’ve noticed, each of these points build off of one another, allowing you to have the roadmap that has helped other “newbies” grow into those regulars who enjoy going to the gym as part of their regular fitness routine. This is all part of the greater plan to help you succeed – and enjoy the gym!
Putting together a plan is so simple – yet it’s something many folks don’t do. But people who have plans and are consistent with them, achieve great results in life – whether it’s in the gym, financial investing, weight loss, personal development, or anything else. Consistent actions, no matter how small, build up MASSIVE changes over time.
But in order to get there, you need a plan. Making progress in the gym is as simple as: showing up, doing the work, recover, and repeat. You can choose to follow a program you read from a magazine. Just be sure it’s a quality magazine with written programs from certified and experienced fitness professionals.
Oh, and those “Instagram Fitness Professionals” who have 40k+ followers their own “get fit like me” program for $49.99? Don’t waste your time or money. Many of these “social media influencers” usually have little to zero knowledge of how proper training works. That’s why many of their faithful followers negative side effects due to unsound training practices.
Do your homework, and find out if the individual who wrote your program (or from whom you’re buying one) has a degree in exercise science/physiology from a well-known and respected institution. Verify if they have quality certification, such as an NSCA-CSCS, NSCA-CPT, ACSM-HFI, or another trusted certification.
EXPERT BONUS TIP: Learn the Fundamental 5
While I’ve helped hundreds – if not thousands – of new gym goers over the span of my career thus far, each one of them had to learn and master the “Fundamental 5” exercises. These have helped them learn how to properly strength train and move their body.
These five (5) fundamental movements are:
- Push (e. bench press or push-ups)
- Pull (seated rows)
- Squat (eastern squats)
- Hinge (dead lifts or band pull-through)
- Press (shoulder press)
Remember: just because someone got the certification, doesn’t mean that they know what they’re talking about. It just means they have a good understanding of the basics. So do your homework. This is YOUR body we’re talking about – and you only get one!
4.) Ask questions, but be wary of “bro’s”.
While we may think that the guy who’s strolling around the gym looking like a real-life Arnold Schwarzenegger, or the woman who looks like an Instagram model, may be the best to ask about gym tips and techniques, looks can be deceiving.
Make sure that the person you’re asking has the right knowledge, and knows the appropriate considerations for your needs. It’s not just about what worked for them, or what someone else told them.
5.) Know and adhere to good gym etiquette – even when others may not.
Good gym etiquette is essential to becoming a “good gym citizen”. I could go on and explain this, but I think I’ll let Rog Law and Mark Fisher to explain it in a more visual and fun way in this video (*warning: adult language).
6.) Sign up for a few group classes to help you meet people, and learn different exercises!
Group classes are a fantastic way to meet fellow gym goers and speed up your learning curve. Many gyms offer a variety of classes: from Pilates, yoga, TRX (Total Resistance eXercise), and weight training, you can find a class setting to help you learn a few new exercises to include in your own practice. Not to mention that you’ll have a great time!
The gym can be a fantastic place to get in shape and change how you feel about yourself. It can also help you realize that you’re capable of far more than you ever thought possible. 6 gym tips to stop feeling like a newbie in the gym
But in order to get there, you must be consistent and regular in your training. You must understand and learn what is good from bad advice.
The gym is for everyone – especially you. We were all beginners at one time or another. Ask questions, take notes, and keep a training journal. These gym tips will help you not only to get more comfortable, but also allow you to improve your training over the weeks, months, or even years ahead on your fitness journey.

4 Smart Reasons To Add Online Surveys To Your Business Strategy
On a scale of one to five, how is your business strategy going so far? Are you attracting your target market? Or perhaps you’re having a hard time getting the word out about your start-up?
Promoting your business should be easier in the digital age. However, that’s not always the case. With a growing number of wary consumers, plus competitors left and right, your business strategy needs to be as versatile as the changing landscape.
But aside from scalability and partnerships, often, the best business strategy is the simplest. Wondering how a Quiz Maker can help you understand your customer demographic? If you’re not sure how online surveys can help your business, here are a few reasons why it could be your best idea yet.
Why Add Online Surveys To Your Business Strategy
1.) They can help you understand your customers better.
Gone are the days when consumers are forced to buy from a single source. Thanks to free shipping and online shopping, they can get whatever they want – wherever they are – in just a few clicks. Understanding your target market then, is the golden rule that would make all the other pieces of your business strategy fall into place.
Make your work a breeze by using engaging survey software solutions, such as Typeform. It uses interactive mediums to make polls quick, easy, and fun to take. From learning about consumer lifestyle choices, to the challenges they have, you can get a wealth of information through a simple online quiz.
2.) Online surveys can help you get content ideas.
Now that you have a bunch of data on your hands, it’s time to turn them into cool stuff. Whether you’re a digital start-up or a small brick-and-mortar store, online content can propel your business to new – and exciting – heights.
Analyze the information you’ve gathered and translate them into content your target market will appreciate. Create cool videos, write blog entries, or start contests with amazing prizes. Tell a story. You can even use the quizzes themselves as content!
3.) Surveys work great for social engagement.
Is your business Facebook page looking a bit sad? Brighten up your social media profiles by adding interactive content like quizzes and polls. As long as you keep it short, sweet, and fun, people would certainly be willing to give it a shot.
In fact, online surveys or quizzes are perfect for social engagement because they’re quick to create and even quicker to respond to. Plus, they’re shareable.
You can effortlessly hit two birds with one stone using this method. First, you get activity on your business page. Second, you can tie your brand strategy with something fun that people can easily remember.
4.) They help build brand loyalty.
Speaking of brand strategy, online surveys are a great addition to help customers keep coming back. Building loyalty isn’t easy – but it’s doable. Go back to the data you’ve gathered of what motivates your target market. Then, align your approach so they feel valued.
For instance, in a re-branding campaign, you can create a poll to your subscribers asking them which logo they like best. You can also make survey forms for product improvements or upcoming features consumers would want to see.
Don’t just focus on getting new customers. Make sure your existing clients feel prioritized. When people know they can count on your business to take care of them and their needs, you can make brand loyalty happen.
A good percentage of people hate taking surveys – and for good reason. Some of them take more than 20 minutes, while others are not transparent about their motives. Consumers also hate it when questions aren’t researched well and become repetitive.
But when done right, online surveys can be fun and practical. They’re relatively easy to create, free for the most part, and can help you gather vital information. Often, it’s the easiest methods that are most useful in business
